Forrestburn Track Night: 18 May 2016

At last – a classic bit of Forrestburn weather – not so much four seasons in one day as two seasons in one day; unfortunately they were autumn and winter. There were quite a few no-shows as well – there names have been entered in a Black Book and there will be repercussions.

Anyway David Baxter braved the elements to bring you this photogallery. Be grateful.

Yesterday evening saw yet another successful and popular tracknight at Forrestburn Speed Hill Climb. Our usual reporters have disappeared to Croft for the weekend so in the absence of any text I will be brief. People turned up, paid in cash, drove round and round, gossiped in the paddock then went home. Another good collection of cars on display and the owners weren’t too bad either – probably.

Here is a photogallery of images from Trish and Donald. Hope you enjoy them.

Forrestburn Speed Hill Climb Track Night
Here’s a great collection of images from Trish and Donald MacDonald from the Track Night yesterday. Good to see so many new cars and drivers there.

In spite of a prolonged sprinkling of rain it was an incident free night, although in a few cases ambition was greater than ability. Fortunately, in these cases where participants “exceeded the track limits”, only pride was damaged. More typically for Forrestburn, the sun was not a problem.

True to form, David Baxter send in this great collection of images from the sun drenched MSCC track night on Thursday 11 June 2015. As we said in the previous post, this was a great night due to the presence of a number of Alfa Romeos. There were some other cars there too.

Just a little reminder of two things. Firstly, remember that this Sunday is a work party. If you think that you can spare some time you know you will be welcome. If you could squeeze your wheelbarrow into the back of the car and bring it along it will be put to good use and much appreciated. So get the shorts and the factor 15 on and come up and join the fun!! anytime after 11.00am – only joking about the sun!

Secondly, as hill climb weekend approaches, it’s worth thinking about a few brave souls battered by the winds, pelted with rain, then baked to a crisp and all before lunch. That sounds like Forrestburn! If you are available to marshal on either Saturday 27 June or Sunday 28 June, contact Iain Paterson by email or text please. Just drop me a line and I will forward his contact details or get them from the recent Facebook post.

If you’ve never marshaled before, we will pair you with someone experienced. It is fairly simple, Red flag if a post number higher than yours radios in, no action if the number is less than yours. If you’re not competing, it is a good way of checking out the lines of the Competition, more than happy to swap posts about at lunchtime. The more marshals we can get, the smoother everything runs and the quicker we can get the cars up.

So do it now – ok?

Track Night at Forrestburn : sun stops play

In an unusual turn of events for a Forrestburn track night, sun stopped play when drivers were totally blinded on the approach to “the wall”, resulting in one young lady participant turning left about twenty yards too soon. The Golf came to a halt well up the bank, removing the power steering pump from the car in the process, but fortunately without personal injury. Until this happened a full entry had enjoyed excellent track conditions and there was a constant stream of cars on the track.
Track Night at Forrestburn : sun stops play
It was great to see an injection of Italian brio at the track night in the form of several Alfa Romeos both on the track and in the paddock – so there were actually some decent cars there for once! The event also saw what was probably the first ascent of the hill by an LPG powered car in the form of Ian Patterson’s Suzuki Ignis. As usual, the “craick” was good but our Chairman flatly refused all offer to help run in the new Vitara on the hill!
