In spite of apocalyptic weather only a few miles to the east, the track night went ahead as planned. The usual regulars were in attendance plus several new faces. Amazingly, not a single drop of rain fell on Forrestburn for the entire evening and the track was in constant use. All participants and their cars survived unscathed although there was evidence of a grass cutting excursion on at least one!

Here is a photo-gallery of the evening courtesy of Trish Macdonald.

It was another successful track night this evening at Forrestburn Speed Hill Climb. A mixed bag of cars attended the event, ranging from a Noble to an Austin 7 single seater including the familiar Subaru, Mazda, Audi, Renault, Toyota and classic Mini. There was also an ex MG Maestro Cup car.

The sun shone all night with some light cloud from 20.00-ish which was a plus as the low sun normally causes problems arriving at Paperthill – “Oh gosh where the hecks the track?“The 20 intrepid speedsters all enjoyed lots of runs proving that if everyone behaves we all benefit.

We are looking forward to the hill climbs on the 16 and 17 June and hope to see lots of enthusiastic members who would like to marshall over the weekend. If you are interested send an email to iain@mscc.org.uk or to Shonah.

Also if you can help with setting up the hill on Friday we would welcome your assistance. Gates are open from 11.00am.

Meantime here are some images of the track night from Chris Nicholson (first six), Kenneth Lind and Shonah Gibbon.

Donald MacDonald reports:
After a sluggish start which saw only six or so cars on site at the official start time, the paddock rapidly filled up with a good mix of regulars and newcomers. The weather remained dry for the duration and there was still a queue of ten cars at the start line well after 8.00pm.

On this occasion there was even a “For Sale” section in the paddock and participants could choose between an Audi R8 at just under £50k or a Honda Civic Type R at ‘P.O.A.’

Some of the hillclimb regulars were spotted snooping around the paddock, probably sizing up the possible competition, no names, no pack drill but they definitely included a Rotary member!

Track Night 15 June 2016

mscc-tracknight-jun-2016After a series of events which took place in tropical conditions Forrestburn returned to type last night. Initially it appeared that only a few stalwarts were going to venture out in the cold, damp conditions, but, as the evening wore on, the numbers gradually increased and a constant stream of cars took to the hill.

Unfortunately the pride of Scottish automotive engineering required assistance just to get to the top of the hill on it’s first run and it was immediately consigned to its trailer. However, like MacArthur, it will be back.

Here’s a collection of images from Trish at the start line.

Yesterday evening saw yet another successful and popular tracknight at Forrestburn Speed Hill Climb. Our usual reporters have disappeared to Croft for the weekend so in the absence of any text I will be brief. People turned up, paid in cash, drove round and round, gossiped in the paddock then went home. Another good collection of cars on display and the owners weren’t too bad either – probably.

Here is a photogallery of images from Trish and Donald. Hope you enjoy them.

Here’s a great collection of images from Trish and Donald MacDonald from the Track Night yesterday. Good to see so many new cars and drivers there.

In spite of a prolonged sprinkling of rain it was an incident free night, although in a few cases ambition was greater than ability. Fortunately, in these cases where participants “exceeded the track limits”, only pride was damaged. More typically for Forrestburn, the sun was not a problem.
