The Flying Scotsman Rally 2016 at Forrestburn

The Flying Scotsman Rally Forrestburn - Gareth Burnett(GB) / Martyn Taylor(GB) 1931 - Talbot 105 Alpine
Saturday 16 April saw a fabulous collection of cars at Forrestburn. The Flying Scotsman Rally departed from Belvoir Castle, an idyllic East Midlands location set in 16,000 acres of beautiful parkland. Three days of glorious Vintage motoring encompassed the Lincolnshire and Yorkshire Wolds then onwards to the North and beyond via Northumberland and some of Scotland’s finest Lochs and Glens, then Forrestburn before arriving at the Gleneagles Hotel.

Here is a photo-shoot from Chris Nicholson who captured the event and provided us with these great images.

Jock’s Run 2016

Jock’s Run 2016

jocks-run-poster 2016Following the success of the first Jock’s Run, and by popular demand, East Ayrshire Car Club, in association with Monklands Sporting Car Club, will hold a classic car run from Forrestburn Hillclimb to Kames Motorsport Complex with some new features for 2016. At Forrestburn there will be an opportunity to compete in a Production Car Autotest, and a ‘run up’ the famous hillclimb. Please note that the ‘run up’ the hillclimb is strictly non-competitive. There will also be optional Production Car Autotests at Kames Motorsport Complex. During the classic car run from Forrestburn to Kames there will be an ‘observation section’ for the navigators.
Jocks Run 2016
Jock’s Run will be held on Sunday 22 May 2016. Signing on will be at Harthill Services, M8 Westbound (between junctions 4a and 5 of M8 westbound) from 9.00 am. Prizegiving, with a snack meal for the crew of two, will be at the Finish at Kames Motorsport Complex.

The event will be held under the general rules of the MSA as a Touring Assembly, these Supplementary Regulations and any written instructions that the organising club may issue for the event. An MSA Touring Assembly Permit and a Production Car Autotest Permit have been applied for.

The event is open to all car enthusiasts. Those wishing to take part in the Production Car Autotests are required to be a member of the organising club (East Ayrshire Car Club) or one of the invited clubs. The invited clubs are Monklands Sporting Car Club and CCHMSC. Details of club membership and membership number should be given at the appropriate place on the entry form which is available to download together with the Regs.

We encourage all club members to enter or assist with marshalling.

MSCC Trial – Sunday 28 February 2016

MSCC Trial – Sunday 28 February 2016

MSCC-Trial---28022016
Greetings MSCC people. We have some images of the record breaking entry for the Car Trial at Forrestburn today. I know you find this hard to believe – even when confronted by photographic evidence – but the weather was glorious, not just for a couple of hours but for the whole day. Amazing isn’t it? Dry conditions meant low penalties with quite a number in single figures. Again – amazing!

There might be a write up of the event here in due course and certainly in the forthcoming edition of the wonderful MSCC Quarterly Newsletter which is produced by John Miller especially for people without computers, mobile phones, access to the internet or electricity. Of course this great read is only available to MSCC Members so if you want it, sign up here.

Meanwhile enjoy this photo-gallery. Oh and the results are available here.

New Year Quiz 2016

New Year Quiz 2016

new-year-quiz-2016Greetings from your favourite car club. At this time last year, we were concerned that you might be bored during the dark days of the New Year so put together a little quiz for you. Well we’ve done the same again this year and due credit to Donald MacDonald for this. There are 21 cars to be identified. As before, there are no prizes and it’s just a bit of entertainment so no arguing at home, pushing over the Christmas Tree or going into huffs – you have the rest of the year to do that. Peace.

Hit up the link below and you will be taken to the Quiz. There are 21 (well…22) questions and four possible answers for each. You won’t find out if you are right or wrong until you have completed all 18 and pressed the Submit button.

You can access the Quiz here – good luck and enjoy it. Looking forward to another great year of motor sport – best wishes for 2016.

Here are the results from the Trial held at Forrestburn on Sunday 1 November 2015. What a fantastic day – many thanks to all the silly hat wearers for adding fun and colour to the event. As always, my thanks to the marshals for carrying out their duties. We also have some more images of the event from Trish MacDonald and George Dow.

The next event will be held on Sunday 28th February 2016. I am looking forward to another grand day out at Forrestburn.
