Derek Bremner's Hillman Imp at the start line at Forrestburn Track Night - 21 May 2014
Before I tell you about the fun we had on Wednesday at Forrestburn I must apologise for the slip-up regarding the reminder e-mail that everyone receives prior to a track night. My lap top for some reason will not sent to the members’ addresses and had Derek House not come to the rescue at the last minute no mail would have gone out. I will, next time, make sure you are reminded at least a week before – promise.
decisions, decisions - which one to take?
For the 12 drivers who did manage to come it was a lovely night with a good variety of cars from a single-seater to a Hillman Imp. I’m sure you will agree that is what you call a broad spectrum. The single seater in the form of Russell Macfarlane’s Nemesis was not playing the game as the throttle was sticking which only allowed him to have one run. The Imp was in the hands of Derek Bremner who will be competing in his first event later in the year and we look forward to seeing him at our hill climb which I understand both he and his dad Rob will be entering.

Alastair Reynolds was having his usual fun with the Westfield and was more than pleased to take new member Robert Davey up the hill for an initiation run. Robert had brought his lovely Lotus Elise which he has just owned for three weeks and was obviously enjoying the evening.

Jamie organised the marshalling and as always the super dependable Trish and Donald were marshalling all evening – thanks guys and also thanks for the photos. Laura Ralton was the sole lady driver in her Corolla scrubbing in her new tyres for Fintry hill climb. Tom Marr was in a BMW 328 rather than the usual MG Midget but this didn’t stop him from really getting round the hairpin with the Beemer on its ear.

Robert Cockling was going to have to go home and tell his wife that her car had a slight problem, and they talk about women drivers!!!!!! – only kidding Robert and thanks for the biscuits. Every time I see the Porsche 944 arriving I think that it’s Colin Rushford but Colin now has a Citroen Xsara and Alan Gow has the Porsche, I’ll get it right someday. Both drivers had fun which is what it’s all about.

The next track night is on 12 June 2014 but don’t worry this time – you will get your reminder.
