Production Car Trial 1 March 2015, Forrestburn
We’ve just received this marvellous report from Catherine Noble who marshalled at the Production Car Trial on 1 March 2015. In the interests of balanced reporting, Catherine tells her story of the day below. It’s a slightly different take on the previous post’s description of the trial. I would say it was positive rather than negative but of course, I wasn’t there.

It was great to be heading out to Forrestburn for the first PCT of the year, lovely sunshine if a little cold. The rain started just as I joined the M8, but with the waterproofs on the backseat I was not overly worried about a little rain! Forrestburn itself was breezy though dry on arrival so looked like a good day would be had.

Signed on for marshalling duties and caught up with some familiar faces having not stood about in any fields for a few years. Brief briefing was had followed by the Catering Chief (Shona) receiving a lovely hat, she seemed most delighted by this! The event then got underway – as did the snow.

The snow was horizontal, the wind was biting and despite not being able to see the marshals on the hillside the competitors were off! Initially all appeared to be going well however pencils soon would not write on soggy paper and some vehicles were struggling to get onto the grass, let alone around the course!

Lunchtime arrived quickly after two runs at each and the soup was greatly appreciated, as were the delicious burgers – I LOVE marshalling! – the decision was taken to abandon the event as the ground was not fairing well and as is typical of Scottish weather, the sun came out!

Slightly damp marshals and competitors headed homewards. I think the competitors may have been slightly wetter than the marshals! My waterproofs are nearly dry, though the Clio carpets are still a bit damp. Hopefully the beached Morgan recovers quickly and will be out for the next event, the 29th of March I think which I hope to be there for too!

Thanks to the organisers for an excellent day.

In contrast to the terrible event described in the previous post, I look at these images and I see blue skies and sunshine. In fact the weather seems to have turned out to be better than usual for Forrestburn.
